Purnam Burelu Recipe Step by Step

Ingredients for Purnam Burelu Recipe

  • Rice flour – 1 Tbsp
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Rice – 1 cup
  • Urad dal – ½ cup
  • Cardamom powder – a pinch
  • Jaggery – 200 gms
  • Channa dal – 200 gms
  • Oil for deep fry


  • Soak the urad dal and rice together for 2 hours and grind them to a fine paste by adding little water,
  • It should be like a thick dosa batter. Add a pinch of salt and mix it well. Keep it aside covered
  • Meanwhile, boil the channa dal until it is well cooked and drain all water when hot, and allow it to cool
  • Powder it in a food processor or you can also add the jaggery to channa dal powder and cook until it becomes thick, flavour with cardamom powder
  • Shape it into a small bite-sized balls
  • Heat enough oil in a wide heavy bottomed pan for deep fry
  • Now dip each ball in the prepared batter and let it coat evenly and gently drop in the oil, deep fry till they become golden brown and crunchy
  • Serve it on a serving plate and serve hot with ghee.
