First Aid Kit:

While doing the first aid Read the first-aid manual clearly so you’ll understand how to use what is in your first aid kit. If your children are mature enough to understand, review the main points of first aid kits with them. Make sure to read the full manual from time to time and don’t forget to see whether it is up to date or not. Make sure while storing the first-aid kit it should be away from your children’s so that they can’t reach but where adults can easily get them. Check the first aid kit regularly so that you can avoid the expiry medicines & syrups and you can also replace the missing items or anything that has expired. Make sure that the babysitters and the other caregivers know where the first aid kit is stored. Regularly check the flashlight batteries to make sure they work.

Basic items that a first aid kits should contain:

  • A list of emergency phone numbers
  • An up-to-date manual/guide for the user
  • Adhesive tapes
  • Adhesive bandages (Band-Aid’s) of various sizes
  • Cotton balls
  • Bandages of various sizes
  • An eye pad/shield
  • Instant cold packs
  • Thermometer
  • Syringes
  • Scissors and tweezers
  • Disinfectant (hydrogen peroxide)
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Extra prescription medicines (if you are going on vacation)
  • Safety pins
  • Calamine lotion
  • Alcohol wipes or ethyl alcohol
  • Plastic non-latex gloves (at least 2 pairs)
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • A blanket
  • Solution for eyewash
  • Plastic bags of different sizes
  • Sterilized saline water for nasal flushing and irrigation
  • A surgical mask
  • Soap
  • Insect repellent lotion
