Ingredients of Amritsari Papad Paneer

  • Paneer – 250 gm
  • Garam masala powder – 1 pinch
  • Garlic paste – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Peppercorns – 2
  • Papad – 4
  • Red chilli powder – 3 gm
  • Ginger paste – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Gram flour (besan) – 25 gm
  • Water -20 ml
  • Salt as required
  • Oil as required


  • Take a mixing bowl and add chilli powder, salt, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala powder and black pepper in it and mix well
  • Cut the paneer pieces into small square shape and marinate them into the chilli mixture
  • Refrigerate the marinated paneer pieces for 10 – 20 minutes
  • In another bowl mix gram flour with the given amount of water to form a creamy consistent batter
  • Roast the papads over Tawa and crush them it to form a crumble
  • Now pour the marinated paneer into the gram flour batter and cover with crumbled papads
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan to deep fry the paneer pieces
  • Gently drop the paneer pieces coated with crumbled papad into the pan and fry till it become crisp and brown
  • Serve hot with your favourite dip or green chutney or mint dip
