Alasandalu Guggillu Recipe

Ingredients for Alasandalu Guggillu


  • Alasandalu (Black eyed peas) – 2 cups(soaked for 4-5 hours)
  • Mustard seeds – 1tsp
  • Split chickpeas – 1 tsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Onion – 1(finely chopped)
  • Green chilli – 7 (chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp



  • Boil Alasandalu for 1 vissel in a pressure cooker by adding salt
  • Drain away the water and  keep it aside to cool
  • Heat oil in a kadai add Mustard, Split chickpeas and  Urad dal and let them splutter
  • Add chopped onions and green chilli stir well
  • Add ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw smell of ginger garlic paste disappears
  • Add curry leaves and mix well
  • Now add boiled Alasandalu and sauté well
  • Cook it for 2-3 mins and serve it in a serving bowl
  • Serve hot



  • You can serve it as snack or with hot rice or chapatti·
  • If you are doing this for  prasadham please avoid ginger garlic paste and onions, instead of ginger garlic paste you can add 2pinch of  hing
