Spicy Tomato Chutney Recipe for Dosa

Ingredients for tomato chutney / tomato karam

 

  • Tomato – 4 (roughly chopped)
  • Onion -2 (roughly chopped)
  • Dry chilli – 4
  • Garlic – 5 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2tbsp
  • Turmeric – 1 pinch
  • Curry leaves – 1 twig
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tsp (optional)
  • Chana dal – ½ tsl(optional)

Method:

  • Blend Onion, tomato, dry chillis, turmeric, garlic and salt to a smooth paste in a blender
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter, add urad dal, chana dal, cumin seeds, and curry leaves Saute them till dals turn golden
  • Add the blended paste and cook on medium flame until the raw smell of onions and tomatoes are gone
  • Serve with idly or dosa
