Gulab Jamun Recipe Step by Step

Ingredients for sugar syrup

  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Green cardamom – 3 (powdered)

Ingredients for gulab jamun

  • Milk powder – 9 tbsp
  • Maida / all-purpose flour / plain flour – 3½ tbsp
  • Rava / semolina / sooji – 1 tbsp
  • Baking soda – pinch
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tsp
  • Ghee – 1 Tsp
  • Milk (warm) -4-5 tbsp

Method for sugar syrup recipe

  • Take a wide pan add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water and get them to a boil
  • Boil them on a medium flame till the sugar syrup turns slightly sticky
  • Now add the cardamom powder and stir well
  • Cook for few minutes till the syrup thickens
  • Turn off the flame and keep it aside

Method for gulab jamun recipe

  • Take a large mixing bowl add milk powder, maida, and Rava
  • then add a pinch of baking soda to it and mix well
  • Now add ghee, lemon juice and crumble them well
  • Now slowly add the milk little by little and knead well till it smoothens and become soft dough
  • Grease your hands with ghee and Shape the dough into small marble-sized balls (Jamuns) The shape of gulab jamun can be round or oblong
  • While preparing Jamuns to make sure that there are no cracks on Jamun balls. else there are chances for Jamun to break while frying
  • heat ghee in a Kadai on low flame and when the ghee is moderately hot, fry the balls on low flame stirring in between
  • fry them till the balls turns golden brown
  • immediately drain the Jamuns out of the ghee and drop the hot Jamuns into the hot sugar syrup
  • cover the lid and keep it aside for 2-3 hours
  • finally, tasty jamuns have doubled in size and they are ready to be served
  • serve it in a serving bowl and serve with ice cream
