Gongura Mamsam/Gongura Mutton Recipe

Ingredients for Gongura Mamsam/Gongura Mutton Recipe

  • Lamb meat – 250 gm
  • Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp

For gravy

  • Refined oil – 2 Tbsp
  • Cloves – 6
  • Cardamoms – 3
  • Cinnamon stick – 1
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Onion – 1 (small, finely chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Gongura leaves – 100 gms
  • Chilli powder – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves – hand full
  • Green chillies – 6 (slit)
  • Coriander leaves – hand full (finely chopped)
  • Water as required
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • First boil the lamb meat in a cooker by adding turmeric powder, salt and ginger garlic paste, keep it aside
  • Heat oil in a pan on medium flame and add the cloves, cardamom, cumin seeds and chopped onion, sauté well till the onions turn translucent
  • Then add ginger garlic paste, Gongura leaves, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, curry leaves, green chillies, coriander leaves, fry them for 2-3 mins
  • Now add the boiled meat, water as required and salt to taste, mix well and cook it for more 5 minutes
  • Once it completely has done, garnish it with few curry leaves and serve hot with steamed rice
