Chicken Chettinad Recipe

Ingredients for Chicken Chettinad Recipe

  • Chicken – 1 kg
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Onion – 3 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato – 3 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 Tsp
  • Green chillies – 2 (finely chopped)
  • Coriander leaves – 1 Tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Bay leaf – 2
  • Cloves – 3
  • Mustard seeds – 1 Tsp
  • Green cardamom – 3
  • Cinnamon broken – 1 1/2 piece
  • Pepper powder – 1 Tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 Tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 Tsp
  • Coriander powder – 2 Tsp
  • Oil – 3 Tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan on medium flame, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds & whole garam masala, sauté well for 30 seconds
  • Add chopped onions & salt, saute well, fry till the onions become golden brown in color
  • Then add turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, green chillies, curry leaves mix well and cook them on a medium flame
  • Now add chopped tomato, chilli powder, coriander powder & cumin powder, stir well and cook it on a medium flame
  • Cook till the oil leaves the sides of the pan
  • Add the chicken pieces and mix well, cover the pan it with a lid and continue to cook
  • Add pepper powder, sprinkle some salt to taste mix well and cook, till the chicken is fully tenderised
  • Once done serve it in a serving bowl and garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or Roti
