Chicken Biryani Recipe Step by Step

Ingredients for Chicken Biryani Recipe

  • Chicken – 600 gms (Boneless)
  • Basmati rice – 1 ½ cups
  • Oil for deep fry – 3 Tbsp
  • Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
  • Bay leaf – 2
  • Cloves – 6
  • Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
  • Green cardamom – 3
  • Onions – 2 (sliced)
  • Green chillies – 3 (slit)
  • Tomatoes – 2 (chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2 ½ Tsp
  • Chilli powder – ½ Tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ Tsp
  • Garam masala – ½ Tsp
  • Thick curd – 1 cup
  • Onions – 3 (sliced and fried brown)
  • Ginger – 1-inch piece (cut into thin strips)
  • Fresh mint leaves torn – few
  • Fresh coriander leaves torn – few
  • Milk – 1/2 cup
  • Rosewater a few drops
  • Eggs – 4 (boiled and sliced)
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • First, boil the basmati rice and keep it aside
  • Meanwhile, heat some oil in a non-stick pan, add cinnamon stick, bay leaves, cloves, cumin seeds, green cardamoms and sauté it for a minute
  • Now add the sliced onions, green chillies and chicken cubes and sauté well
  • Add turmeric powder and mix well
  • Add tomatoes and salt and mix well
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder and curd, stir well
  • Now add half of the fried onions steamed rice on top and sprinkle the garam masala powder, ginger strips, mint leaves and coriander leaves. Sprinkle the milk, rose water and remaining fried onions
  • Cover and cook it on a low flame for 10 minutes
  • Garnish the biryani with the egg slices and serve hot
