Ingredients for Badam Halwa and Barfis Recipe

  • Almonds – 125 gm (soaked, blanched and ground)
  • Poppy seeds – 75 gm (soaked in milk)
  • Milk – 1 liter
  • Khoya – 125 gm
  • Sugar – 200 gm
  • Ghee – 200 gm
  • Saffron strands – 1/4 Tsp
  • Green cardamoms – 4

Method

  • First, strain and grind the poppy seeds
  • Add almonds, cardamom and milk, blend until smooth
  • Cook them on a low flame
  • Once the mixture thickens add khoya, sugar and saffron mix well and thicken the mixture further
  • Add the ghee and mix well
  • Continue to cook until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan
  • Serve hot as halwa (At this stage you can serve it as halwa)

Method to make Barfi

  • Set on a lightly greased tray
  • Cut barfi into the desired shape and decorate with silver leaf
